As a child Evgenia and her family were in Ukraine. They were forced into a ghetto. She was separated from her family and in an aktion the Nazi soldiers hit her on her head and she was knocked unconscious. When she woke up she had been thrown on a pile of bodies. She went and hid under a bridge.
A Jewish woman found her and took her into a different ghetto with her. They had closed a portion of the city of Zhmerenko to make this ghetto. She was 12 years old.
All of her family was killed in the Holocaust except one brother. They came to Israel but her memories have continued to haunt her all her life.
