This section features the true experiences of Holocaust Survivors we see and visit today. This is to fulfill their requests,
“Remember us! Tell others of our experiences so we are not forgotten!”
“Both of us were born in Ukraine and went to the same schools. We knew each other before the war came to us.”
“I [Arkadi] was arrested and put in handcuffs when I was 12 years old. I thought I would die at any time.
“I was given the job of cutting wood for the soldiers. My father was Jewish and became an officer in Red Army.”
“My [Sofia] job was to make cigarettes for the German soldiers.”
After the war Arkadi became an engineer and Sofia taught French. They lived in Moldovia.
Today Arkadi and Sofia reside in Akko. Now 86 and 84 years old, they struggle with health issues but always have a smile when we visit. We deliver birthday flowers and special gifts for Yom HaShoah or other Holidays.
