~Mikail~
When WWII began Mikail was 12 years old. His entire family decided to go into hiding.
Friends of the family took them in and they hid in secret for 6 months at the friend’s house. On a search the German soldiers found them. But before the soldier’s came in, his mother hid him in a storeroom.
While Mikail was hiding, they captured his mother, took her out of the house and killed her. Then on a search of the house, they found him. He was taken from there and put into a ghetto. He lived in the ghetto for 6 months and had to work.
His father and brothers were at the front fighting in the war so no one was with him. After 6 months in the ghetto, Mikail ran away to Romania. He slept in the streets of the cities where he stayed. Then someone saw him and took him to an orphanage for Jewish children. But he did not stay there either. He ran away again and went to Odessa, Ukraine.
He stayed in Odessa and when he was old enough he studied for the Navy and became a sailor. He enjoyed the Navy very much and made it his life. Mikail made aliyah to Israel in 1996 and now lives in north Israel near the sea.
