Lowick is a small village situated in the northern English county of Northumberland.
It boasts two excellent pubs, The White Swan
and the Black Bull.
The newly refurbished village hall is where ladies meet to develop and share their love of quilting, enjoy a natter, homemade cakes and a cuppa.
These three establishments, beloved by the villagers, have been unlikely venues in this quiet rural area for supporting the efforts of Jan and Clare to raise money and awareness for survivors of the holocaust.
The Lowick Quilters have an ongoing project making lap quilts for survivors. Since ‘Sewn With Love’ began 2 years ago some 50 or more quilts have been made and taken to holocaust survivors living in Israel. Fund raising events have been held at the two pubs thanks to the kindness of the publicans and local organizers. There are hearts of gold to be found in faraway Lowick!
