Did You Know…?

…Victor Klemperer, a Jewish professor at the Dresden Technical Institute, kept a   secret viktor-klemperer-author-smalldiary of Nazi activity and the war from 1933-1945?

As a professor he was not even permitted a typewriter.  Married to a non-Jew he was allowed to continue to live in Dresdan and not sent on the death transports to the “East.”

Long after the war it was thought his secret diaries were lost.  But on his death his wife gave the diaries to the Dresdan Archive where they stayed until published in 1995.
