This section features the true experiences of Holocaust Survivors we see and visit today. This is to fulfill their requests,
“Remember us! Tell others of our experiences so we are not forgotten!”
~ Shura ~
Shura was born in Modovia but the family was diplaced to Kergisia and Romania. She remembers the bombing of trains and the attacks, starvation- a difficult time. She was 2 years old when her mother, an English teacher, died. Her father was a French teacher and was taken to a labor camp. Her father after he was released remarried a French Jewish who eventually left them and made aliyah to Israel.
Shura taught English in Moldovia for 38 years and finally made aliyah with her second husband. They had two daughters who made aliyah before them. They retired and came to Israel to join their daughters, renting an apartment until they could move into a hostel for elderly.
Shura speaks very clearly and even corrects the English of each of us Americans! Like many Survivors she has health difficulties but does not speak about it.
Her husband died in 2018 and she was very sad for a long time. She is better but you can see she misses him.
