“Time is Money” is an old adage. In other words, time is a valuable resource and we try to use it wisely. This month, instead of giving you costs in $$ or shekels, we will give approximate times to accomplish our work. So, how long do you think it takes us to…?
- Visit one Survivor: preparation, travel and visit = 1 hour +/-
- Translate a letter for one Survivor = 1 day to 2 weeks
- Grocery shopping = depends on the day of the week; 1 hour +/-
- Post Office to pay bills = 20-30 minutes
- Post Office to pick up package or mail letter = 20 min-1 hour
- Banking = depends on day and hour; 20 min – 2 hours
- Prepare 600+ Survivor birthday cards to mail = 2 days
- Take one Survivor to doctor = 2-5 hours + taxi fare
- Visit to Minister of Interior for visa = 1 hour
- Washing machine, 1 cycle = 30 minutes-2 hours
- Water the yard and garden each evening = 1 hour
- Eyeglass clinic one day: preparation, travel, clinic = 8 hours/day
- Deliver birthday flowers for one Survivor = 30 minutes
- Travel to Survivors in Negev from Akko = 3.5 hours one way
- Travel to Survivors in Galilee from Akko = 1-1.5 hours one way
- Travel to Jerusalem from Akko by car = 2.5 hours one way
- Travel to Jerusalem from Akko by train = 4.5 hours one way
- Train from Ben Gurion airport to Akko = 1 hour & 50 minutes
- Walk from Beit Shalom to Mediterranean Sea = 12 minutes
- Average time to write the AHI newsletter = 3 days
- Update Survivor address lists = daily, hourly, endless
- Building relationship with any Survivor = timeless and priceless
