Did You Know…?

….Dachau was one of the oldest Nazi concentration camps?  Located north of Munich, Germany it was established in 1933, two months after the Nazis came to power.

To the left is a picture of an 18 year old Russian girl liberated when the American troops arrived.  The rest of the pictures speak for themselves.

Hundreds of bodies clad in gray and white striped prison uniforms are laid out in rows at Dachau concentration camp. This is what Sgt. Irving Ross’ unit found after they took control of the camp. For a week after his outfit captured the camp it had the problem of disposing of the hundreds of bodies so it continued the practice of their predecessors to reduce the possibility of an epidemic. Ross took this picture and many more.
